The Art of the Ancients: From Cave Painting to Cleopatra

This is actually three 10 week courses, but you can book all three. 

We shall be looking at the Baroque period, during the turbulent 17th century, then looking at the development of Rococo in the 18th century, with a short excursion into
Neo-Classicism at the time of the French Revolution.

We shall then spend the Summer term with the Romantics and seeing how they laid the blueprint for the modern world.

This is a 30 week course that looks at the kind of Art you will find in a museum
rather than a gallery. 

We shall start with the earliest of cave paintings and proceed through
the Bronze Age to the Art of ancient civilisations like the Mesopotamians, the Babylonians, the Egyptians the Greeks and the Romans.

We shall also be taking in the Art of pre-industrialised societies like the Aboriginals,
Native Americans and that of Africa.
