The Art of the Ancients: From Cave Painting to Cleopatra
This is a five week online course looking at Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Rubens, Vermeer and Claude.
We shall be looking at the Baroque period, during the turbulent 17th century. Asking what made the artists of that period tick and what those paintings meant to their immediate audience.

This is a 30 week course that looks at the kind of Art you will find in a museum
rather than a gallery.
We shall start with the earliest of cave paintings and proceed through
the Bronze Age to the Art of ancient civilisations like the Mesopotamians, the Babylonians, the Egyptians the Greeks and the Romans.
We shall also be taking in the Art of pre-industrialised societies like the Aboriginals,
Native Americans and that of Africa.
The course will be taught on three different times, as follows:
